#GiveBackGreen initiative is an approach & attempt to spread awareness on how each of us can do our bit to help save environment and thus save earth. Our environment is constantly changing and major issues that are cause for concern are pollution, global warming, overpopulation, waste disposal, deforestation, ocean acidification, ozone layer depletion & water pollution. So Go Green! Give Back Green - Century Greens - Century Real Estate Blog

Give Back Green - Century Greens - Century Real Estate Blog Go Green is on everybody’s mind but where do you begin? By saving energy & choosing a greener lifestyle, you can help save the environment & ensure a greener earth.

Although it may not be obvious, there’s a direct connection between energy we use and the environment. So when we consume less power, we reduce the amount of toxic fumes released by power plants, conserve the earth’s natural resources and protect the ecosystem from destruction.’

Here are a few things you can do right at home to support #GiveBackGreen

Other cleansing options: Most often, simple steps can save water. Try not to use water as a cleaning solution for everything at home. Baking Soda and vinegar can work just as well.

NO to Plastic: Opt for boxes instead of bottles for grocery & home products, like laundry detergents that come in cardboard boxes that are more easily recycled than plastic. Use a reusable bottle or mug for beverages, even when ordering as a take away. Use reusable grocery bags rather than plastic bags. And most importantly, use water filter to purify tap water instead of buying bottled water & eliminate any container waste!  Give Back Green - Century Greens - Century Real Estate Blog

Adjust Electronic Devices: Did you know that you can save up to 10% of your energy use by adjusting your thermostat 1% cooler in winter and 1% higher in summer? Minimize door opening while using the oven.

Grow your food: Make the most of your garden and the time at hand. Grow your own fruit and vegetables in your garden as this not only saves you money, but you can save on fuel since you don’t need to hit the grocery shop every time you need something. Also home grown produce tastes better!

Watering Lawn: Water the lawn first thing every morning when temperatures are at the lowest, as this simple step will slow down evaporation, which means less water goes further. Remember, every drop of water counts.

Shower Power: Install a low flow shower head in the bathroom. If you have a regular boiler, turn down the thermostat on the hot water tank, so the water in the tank never gets too warm. Making sure it is heated to the right temperature (and stored at the right temperature) in your hot water tank is a good way to save on your electricity bill!

Washing Machine: Use washing machine on the lowest temperature settings as bio washing powder contains enzymes that are specifically chosen because they work at this temperature. If you increase the temperature up then it can make the washing powder ineffective.

Unplug, Recharge: Unplug phones from the charger (& the charger from the wall too!) when your phone is fully charged. Unplug all devices that are not in use. Also, recharge batteries instead of buying throw away ones.

Share if you Care: Make commute to work another reason to help save earth! Carpooling saves fuel and we know it. But ensure to get likeminded people at work who live close to you and take it in turns driving to work. Over 60+ lac vehicles are on Bangalore’s roads, so make a wise choice – take a shared cab, save energy.
